In 2016 the UCC General Council commissioned Caring for Creation, Our Communities and Our Congregations: The Case for a National Carbon Reduction Program for Faith Buildings. The Faithful Footprints program was created to established The United Church of Canada has a leader in national climate action. The Faithful Footprints program is proud to have surpassed our original goal, set in 2018, of engaging 500 United Church communities of faith by 2025. Building on this success, we are now setting our sights even higher, aiming to connect with 500 more congregations by 2030.

Presenting at your event enables us to reach more people, raising awareness of the program’s grants and available support and resources to help communities of faith retrofit their buildings to reduce their carbon footprint and align their operations with UCCan values.

The United Church goal of an 80% reduction in carbon emissions by 2030
By helping to support energy and carbon reduction retrofits of United Church properties, Faithful Footprints is helping to accelerate reductions towards UCCan public commitment of an 80% decrease in emissions by 2030.
The United Church Strategic Objective ‘Deepen Integrity: Living Climate Commitments’
Faithful Footprints is one initiative that supports the UCCan climate strategy which offer tools and resources for immediate climate action to help communities and individuals live with respect in creation.
The United Church Climate Pillar ‘Putting Our House in Order’
Faithful Footprints is one initiative supporting the work under the UCCan Climate Pillar ‘Putting our House in Order’. This pillar focuses on contributing towards more resilient communities by greening buildings, sharing spaces, and decreasing carbon footprints to help lower operational costs, create revenue-flowing opportunities, and build capacity for additional programming.
